Below is a statement concerning the Jade Helm 15 military exercise scheduled to take place between 07/15/2015 and 09/15/2015 by Louie Gohmert, a U.S. Congressman out of Texas. I have had the opportunity of meeting Congressman Gohmert personally and found him to be a sincere Patriotic American. His state is one of the states included in the Jade Helm exercise.

Rep. Louie Gohmert (TX-01) released the following statement on the ‘Jade Helm 15’ exercises scheduled to take place in Texas and various other states:
“Over the past few weeks, my office has been inundated with calls referring to the Jade Helm 15 military exercise scheduled to take place between July 15 and September 15, 2015. This military practice has some concerned that the U.S. Army is preparing for modern-day martial law.
Certainly, I can understand these concerns. When leaders within the current administration believe that major threats to the country include those who support the Constitution, are military veterans, or even ‘cling to guns or religion,’ patriotic Americans have reason to be concerned. We have seen people working in this administration use their government positions to persecute people with conservative beliefs in God, country, and notions such as honor and self-reliance. Because of the contempt and antipathy for the true patriots or even Christian saints persecuted for their Christian beliefs, it is no surprise that those who have experienced or noticed such persecution are legitimately suspicious.
Having served in the U.S. Army, I can understand why military officials have a goal to see if groups of Special Forces can move around a civilian population without being noticed and can handle various threat scenarios. In military science classes or in my years on active duty, I have participated in or observed military exercises; however, we never named an existing city or state as a “hostile.” We would use fictitious names before we would do such a thing.
Once I observed the map depicting ‘hostile,’ ‘permissive,’ and ‘uncertain’ states and locations, I was rather appalled that the hostile areas amazingly have a Republican majority, ‘cling to their guns and religion,’ and believe in the sanctity of the United States Constitution. When the federal government begins, even in practice, games or exercises, to consider any U.S. city or state in ‘hostile’ control and trying to retake it, the message becomes extremely calloused and suspicious.
Such labeling tends to make people who have grown leery of federal government overreach become suspicious of whether their big brother government anticipates certain states may start another civil war or be overtaken by foreign radical Islamist elements which have been reported to be just across our border. Such labeling by a government that is normally not allowed to use military force against its own citizens is an affront to the residents of that particular state considered as ‘hostile,’ as if the government is trying to provoke a fight with them. The map of the exercise needs to change, the names on the map need to change, and the tone of the exercise needs to be completely revamped so the federal government is not intentionally practicing war against its own states.”
Congressman Gohmert is the Vice Chair of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security and the Chairman of the Natural Resources Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations. Prior to being elected to serve in Congress, Louie was elected to three terms as District Judge in Smith County, Texas. He was appointed by Texas Governor Rick Perry to complete a term as Chief Justice of the 12th Court of Appeals.
These military exercises have drawn observations from people on both sides of politics, the Liberal, the Conservative and anywhere in between and some on the extreme of both sides. Conspiracy Theorist have run their usual oratorical use of meaningless words spiking fear of those who don’t bother to learn about something on their own. While I really try to stay out of their arena I find myself at least looking in the door on this subject. My concerns run right along with those of Congressman Gohmert’s written statement. However, on Friday, May 22nd he was a guest on the Rose Unplugged show. Rose was filling in for Sean Hannity. During his phone interview with Rose he said he wasn’t worried about this exercise becoming a [declared] martial law. I would like to have been able to ask him this follow-up question; I agree there won’t be a declared martial Law this time, but what about in the next 18 months? Could this be a trial run to see if martial law could even be handled?

In strict dictionary terms, martial law is the suspension of civil authority and the imposition of military authority. When we say a region or country is “under martial law,” we mean to say that the military is in control of the area, that it acts as the police, as the courts, as the legislature. The degree of control might vary – a nation may have a civilian legislature but have the courts administered by the military. Or the legislature and courts may operate under civilian control with a military ruler. In each case, martial law is in effect, even if it is not called “martial law.”
On 8/26/2005, in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans was placed under martial law after widespread flooding rendered civil authority ineffective. The state of Louisiana does not have an actual legal construct called “martial law,” but instead something quite like it: a state of public health emergency. The state of emergency allowed the governor can suspend laws, order evacuations, and limit the sales of items such as alcohol and firearms. The governor’s order limited the state of emergency, to end on 9/25/2005, “unless terminated sooner.”
If you will recall, local law enforcement and National Guardsmen entered homes and guns were seized out of legally occupied homes and some have yet to be returned, that along with other atrocities all in the name of martial law or in the case of New Orleans a state of public health emergency. Why does our military need to hold extended training exercises in our cities when they have their own constructed cities and towns for this type of training?
On 01/26/2011 NBC News web site ran the following story: $170 million mock city rises at Marine base. Hotels, markets, tunnels – and actors – are part of urban warfare training. Why did they build this mock city? It took the appearance of Middle Eastern villages but as the article states training can simulate any region of the world. Why does the military need to train in our actual cities when they have these mock cities available and there are multiple sites constructed for these training exercises? To answer that question we would need to ask another question. Why would there be a consideration of martial Law? Here is where the conspiracy theorist enters with their thoughts. This is why they are called conspiracy theorist although in many cases they are proven right. It is felt that when Barack Hussein Obama was elected President he entered the office with only one intent and that was to dismantle America by weakening it spiritually, financially, morally and militarily. Well it would be the feeling of a large majority and myself that he has accomplished his goal. It is also felt that he has not advanced Islam as far as what he wanted and see’s this upcoming election as a barrier to his completing his objective. In order for him to stay in office longer than his Constitutionally allowed time there has to be a “declared martial law.” It is my personal belief the hidden reason behind gun bans and enhancing registration and background checks is for the sole purpose of disarming American’s and for this reason I feel the timing for this major step during the upcoming Jade Helm training exercise by him would not work. The gun bans and enhanced registrations attempted by the Democrats along with more intense background checks haven’t evolved like they wanted. Okay, here is my conspiracy theory. There has to be a legitimate reason to declare martial law. The intense tension being raised regarding race in this country and the continued allegations of “high incidents” of black shootings by white officers is happening for a reason. I really don’t believe the number is any higher than it would have normally been, it is just being constantly shoved in our and the black communities face by Al Sharpton, our various media outlets and several of the black leaders in various communities especially those where an incident did occur. When you have these major speakers, sports heroes and even congressional members continually decrying “Hands Up Don’t Shoot” etc. there can only be an increase in tension. Being a retired police officer from a majority black city I can say there was never a conspired effort to shoot anyone of any color. No officer would knowingly put himself or herself into a situation where they could be jailed for life or even put their family and children through that. Does bad thing happen? Yes they do. But that doesn’t mean there is a nation epidemic of police officers looking for young black males to randomly shoot. There has to be an underlying reason for all of the recognition these incidents are receiving. If Obama can justify that local and state law enforcement is unable to maintain the peace in the community and states then he might try to declare martial law placing the military and States Nation Guards in charge. I feel that at some point in the future there might be attacks on local law enforcement not physically but through controlled propaganda from the current administration. That would lead to more public street rioting etc., which would be a catalyst for martial law. Now, it seems his complete demoralization of our military starts to show cause. This demoralization has caused a large number of good God-fearing, Constitutional believing, country loving (ranking and non-ranking) military personal to retire early or just not re-sign leaving those that believe our Constitution is out dated and trying to remove God from all aspects of military there. These are the ones who would probably obey a martial law order.
Now for the Sixty Four Thousand Dollar question.
If the President was to declare martial law would law enforcement and our current military personal respond. Here is an answer I posted on a site where a retired Air Force Officer made the statement there would be no ranking officer in the Air Force or military willing to take an illegal order and carry out martial law in our American cities without proper justification. Mr. Stephens, as would be my guess, is an older person (being retired) that still believes in loyalty to Country which I also do but he fails to recognize that todays younger people do not look at America the same way we do and did even in our younger years.

Mr. Stephens, thank you for your service to our Country. You service is very much appreciated. Being a retired law enforcement officer and probably a year or two older than you I disagree with your observation of loyalty. When I entered law enforcement there was a great loyalty toward follow officers, our city and our state and country. The term Peace Officer was still used. Now law enforcement has become a more Para-Military structure. On one of the police only web sites a few years ago the question was asked, Would you participate in a door to door confiscation of weapons on the order of your Chief or State Governor. I was shocked at the number that said yes. We are dealing with a generation that doesn’t recognize the rights that were afforded us on the signing of the Constitution, The Declaration of Independence and other documents assuring us the freedoms that God and Country bestowed on us. The generation we are dealing with has been indoctrinated into thinking differently about our Country than you and I think. Our schools and colleges are the reason for this lack of loyalty to our country and knowledge of why this great country was founded. Our educational system is completely rewriting American history to fit their needs or completely editing out that portion of history teaching the discovery of America and the founding of this great Republic. We are losing America through our schools, colleges and universities at a rate far greater than I fear we can recover
We must defend our freedoms at all cost, for those who have given they’re all, to our children and grand children. Damn the orders of anyone whose intent is to bring harm to our great Country or take away our Freedoms.
