Today, the Supreme Court of the United States sided with the LGBT community in saying that gay marriage is to be legal in all fifty states. We can no longer trust those who we entrusted to uphold our Constitution and Christian values and beliefs. The Supreme Court has become an Oligarchy. We have become a country ruled by a small number of nine people that we did not elect or for the majority of citizens, even wanted. For this I blame Congress. Congress, being the government, has wrapped their arms around the fact that they want America to become a “Totalitarian State,” a government that subordinates the individual to the state and strictly controls all aspects of life by coercive measures.
Bill Lend, on February 05, 2000 wrote an article “The Origins of Political Correctness” for the Accuracy in Academia, a non-profit research group in Washington, D.C. In this article he made the following point, which I feel, best explains why we are where we are.
Indeed, all ideologies are totalitarian because the essence of an ideology (I would note that conservatism correctly understood is not an ideology) is to take some philosophy and say on the basis of this philosophy certain things must be true – such as the whole of the history of our culture is the history of the oppression of women. Since reality contradicts that, reality must be forbidden. It must become forbidden to acknowledge the reality of our history. People must be forced to live a lie, and since people are naturally reluctant to live a lie, they naturally use their ears and eyes to look out and say, “Wait a minute. This isn’t true. I can see it isn’t true,” the power of the state must be put behind the demand to live a lie. That is why ideology invariably creates a totalitarian state.
In the above paragraph he uses the term oppression of women. This term could effectively be changed to blacks, homosexuals or any other group one would want to use.
We have members in both the Senate and House who are more worried about their precious positions of “Hierarchy” than they are about what is actually good and right for America. They are more worried about being on the wrong side of their Majority Leader and having their positions in various committee’s stripped from them. I’m sure there are some members of Congress who probably felt that several of the recent justices admitted to the court to uphold the Constitution shouldn’t have been approved but were more worried about the disciplining they would have received from their leaders had they voted no, and as a result we now have a Supreme Court that writes law which is not what they have the power to do. Not only did they go against States Rights they went against Gods Word. They have effectively said, “We are the almighty who needs to be obeyed.” We know better than God what marriage should be.
To those in the LGBT community who jumped in line waiting to be married on the first day and to the rest that will be married over time I can only say what I believe to be true according to Gods Word; Marriage is between one man and one woman, period. We are given the definition of marriage in Genesis 2:24 “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” Emphasis mine.
Wife, according to Merriam-Webster is defined as: 1. “A married woman: the woman someone is married to” 2. “A female partner in marriage” Knowing that in a gay or lesbian relationship one of the two partners usually takes the masculine role and the other takes on the feminine role, one plays the man and the other plays the wife. To this thinking I say this; just because you say you’re the wife does not make you a woman any more then Bruce Jenner is a woman.
For me to be here writing and you reading this topic I can only blame on us Christians in America. We have allowed those around us who have a disdain for Christianity to push us into the closet so to speak and have instructed us to keep quiet and keep our Christian thoughts and beliefs to ourselves. It saddens me to say we have followed directions very well. As a result of this we have allowed the “politically correct group” to shove their ideologies up our butts. No pun intended. We as Christians and as a society have become reliant on what is politically correct and what isn’t. We have in fact allowed ourselves to become victims of the progressive liberal ideologies.
In an effort to maintain peace at all cost and not rock the boat we have taken the term WWJD-What Would Jesus Do and have distorted that thought to the point that we take no action at all. Jesus did not sit back and take a pacifist view when the money changers were in the temple courts. In Matthew 21:12-13 we are told: 12 Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves. 13 “It is written,” he said to them, “‘My house will be called a house of prayer,’ but you are making it ‘a den of robbers.’” It would appear that Jesus was an activist not a pacifist. He wasn’t afraid to stand up and say enough is enough. He wasn’t afraid to back up his words with action albeit controlled action.
Maybe, we need to become a little more like Jesus. Had we taken this approach years ago we probably would not be having this discussion.
